FLEXR Water Bottle Review

I was recently given a FLEXR bottle to test. I figured, why not?

FLEXR is the first BPA-free bottle with a disposable and fully biodegradable liner. Interesting concept, right? Think a baby bottle liner. As you drink, there is no sloshing since the liner shrinks around the remaining liquid. Water then remains near the top of the bottle so you don’t need to tilt it upside down to get the liquid out. This is probably most beneficial to bikers and triathletes who are wanting to drink but not take their eyes off the road.

So – no sloshing back and forth once you’ve emptied half of your bottle
during a run. Pretty clever, actually! The version I tested didn’t have a
handle, but the company does sell them. I think that would actually a
useful product for long runs in the heat.

The other plus is that thoroughly cleaning bottles between uses doesn’t always happen around here (hey, just being honest!). And if I do, sometimes it’s hard to get completely into those long, skinny, or tall bottles. For those of you using UCAN, you’ve probably noticed that your bottles take on the taste of the product after a while. Using liners would prevent that, which would be really nice!

Bottle instructions

Overall, I was more impressed than I thought I would be. My only wishes are that:

The neoprene cover was removable so I could throw it in the dishwasher every so often. Now I hand-wash it.

The valve is a little harder to open as it requires two hands. I’m used to being able to open bottles with my teeth on the run.

Also, I’m not sure how I feel about the disposable liners. On the one hand, it’s great because of the benefits above and they are biodegradable… but on the other hand, I don’t feel good about throwing a liner away every time I use a bottle…

There you have it! Thanks, FLEXR for allowing me to test out the product!

*Disclaimer: This product was given to me to test; I did not purchase
the product.
