Post ING NYC Marathon Monday Motivation
This comes to you from JFK Airport – because I’m such a dedicated blogger :). And I KNOW I’ve had millions of people checking this just WAITING for a post. Right?
So, without further ado, check out the top 25 finishers at NYC. I could have been there. My life dream of top 10 American woman at NYC would have totally been attainable. This fuels me. I will rest HARD these next two or more weeks, whatever it takes. I want to be fast again, I want to compete alongside these women!!

Neither of us are sporting manly mustaches, but this is a pretty good article: http://www.artofmanliness.com/2013/11/04/dig-deep-youre-stronger-than-you-think/
If you're not a fan, check out the 'Manly Skills' section to learn how to walk like a ninja. If you ever find yourself dragging during a race or workout, maybe you can just sneak your way in to the finish unnoticed 🙂
It's hard to read the name on that tag, so some people might not realize that the guy standing with you in that picture is Geoffrey Mutai. The FASTEST MARATHONER EVER, and the winner at NYC the last two years.
Love your positive attitude, Nichole! You WILL be on that list! I love the photo of you with Geoffrey – SO COOL! I met Desi Davilla at a NY 10K race this past year and I was totally star struck. I'm in VA and got to watch the NY marathon on TV! It was awesome! Glad you are taking some time to rest so that you can come back stronger (because you WILL)!!!
I had a sub-par race last spring at the Shamrock marathon and it lit a fire under me to really get after it this summer. I pushed myself to run with a faster group even though I was slightly intimidated and knew I'd be back of the pack (the group was for 3:20 marathoners and under – they let me in even though I ran a 3:24) and I kept telling myself when the going got tough that I was NOT going to have another sub-par race – I was GOING to get my goal! I definitely used that bad race as extra motivation to pay attention to details and really do everything I could to make sure that I would get it at my fall race. And sure enough, I ran a 3:18 at Erie, PA this fall and felt vindicated. 🙂
