How much time running vs. skiing?
My constant dilemma :). I’m trying to keep my miles fairly high during these winter months. I know if I don’t, my legs will get weak & I won’t be able to ramp up my mileage as quickly in the spring. So, my mileage will vary from 50-85 over the winter, with the bulk of…
Achilles Tendonitis
Anyone know how to treat this QUICKLY? It came on Thursday after a hard/long Wednesday evening run. I’ve never had Achilles trouble before, so I’m a little perplexed that it came on so quickly and has been so bad. Generally it feels bruised/tight when walking around. Running on it Thursday it had a burning sensation….
Day of (Cross Training) Rest
Last night before my PM run (first double! Yes!) I just decided: I was going to cross train tomorrow instead of attempting the speed workout as had been written. No matter if the PM run went fine, it was pain free, etc. Jerry’s goal for me is to get back to running every day. So,…
Highs and Lows
Long time, no post! Just been really busy 🙂 This past week was pretty odd. I had one of my best workouts and one of my worst. High: Completing a brutal track workout and NAILING my paces for the first time in a very, very long time. Do you know how long Jerry has been…

Great article! It was cold in 1983 and a little rainy – and I took fifth in my age class, though I hate cold races. There's a guy in Japan that last year ran a 2:08 and who works 40 hours per week. I remember when Derek Clayton was asked if his then 12 year-old record of 2:08 would ever be broken and he said, "Of course. But not by someone working full-time like I did." So far he's still the fastest – the Japanese guy missed his time by a few seconds.
